We were excited to be part of the New Scientist ‘Live’ show at Ecel, London a couple of weeks ago.
Using the STEM in Conservation as our main theme, visitors to our stand had a go at our new ‘burrow-scope’ activity. This links with one of the projects featured in our Global STEM Awards Conservation Pathway Book (vol 1) where the activity investigates how ecologists use technology to explore the habitats of burrow making birds and animals such as colonies of Shearwaters, sea birds in New Zealand. For our project activity at the show, young visitors used an adapted CUB (Crumble Universal Buggy) fitted with an endoscope camera to drive into our model cliff top burrows to find out information on this incredible species of seabird.
We also had a chance to talk to visitors about CANDOO our STEM careers card game and about the Global STEM Awards.
It was great to meet and chat with so many ‘STEMMY’ young people and their families over the 3 days of the show.
